I was 10 and I was under strict instructions not to touch it. But you know us little boys I touched it as often as I could and never got caught. I got my own when I was 16 and earned my own money. I was too embarrassed to ask for something I might not be able to pick up. But as you know in the only place you could find tabs were in music books at the music store and you were lucky to find a song you liked to work on. It was insane. So I picked up what I could until I got married had a kid etc and so on until my divorce in Anyway when that site was shut down I was depressed but at the time I was in a working band playing every weekend.
That and broke up around when I got my first iPhone this App was available and off we went. I must say this app has done wonders for me. This app has helped me learn how to play guitar and learn the notes of different types of G chords, the different ways to play a B minor, different ways to play any chord. Of course practicing but bc of this app, I was able to learn an entire song within a week and yeah it comes with a lot of practice and repetition but this app is incredible.
Jamaican and reggae type songs often have an emphasis on the 2 and 4 beat, strum with a percussive type effect on these beats as you play the Banana Boat Song. Youtube Video 7 - Mary Had a Little Lamb As mentioned before, most songs that only have these two chords in them of C and G will often be kid's songs or folk songs. However, it is always good to know these really simple songs like Mary had a Little Lamb because you never know when you will have a young audience that will want to hear a familiar tune!

You will find much of the verse is in G with a short part in the C major chord, in fact many sites have the chord as G7. As you learn to play it, it will seem strange that you are staying in that same G chord for much of the verse. I find this can be fixed by good strumming and switching between G and G7.
It's really all about using your ear. G7 is not that much different than G major and now is a great time to pick it up and start using it. With Paperback Writer you see that even two chords in a song it is not always easy! This song sounds great on an acoustic or electric guitar, just remember to add a little bit of soul and funk to it!
Another song about peace and equality and all it needs is two chords! Technically this song is in the Key of G , but it fits our needs for only using C and G Youtube Video 10 - Skip to My Lou This song dates all the way back to the 's, so while it may be a simple children's song we have to give it some respect for such staying power. It transitions back and forth quite simply between C and G without much fuss and is a great beginners song.
It sounds fine with basic strumming, but it sounds much better with a little finger picking, give it a try and see what sounds best to you! This way you not only know the best acoustic songs for beginners, but the best places to learn them as well. And I even took things one step further just because I wanted to make the ultimate resource for you guys.
This way you get an experienced teacher teaching the song to you, one-on-one, for free! Also: you will need a capo to play some of these songs. This one takes extra finger strength and effort because you have to fret every note in the chord. The first way to play the B Major chord is in the 2nd position, which looks like this: Index finger on the 2nd fret of the A 5th string Middle finger on the 4th fret of the D 4th string Ring finger on the 4th fret of the G 3rd string Pinky on the 4th fret of the B 2nd string Strum four strings down from the A string.
Index finger on the 7th fret of the low E 6th string Index finger on the 7th fret of the E 2nd string Index finger on the 7th fret of the G 1st string Middle finger on the 8th fret of the G 3rd string Ring finger on the 9th fret of the A 5th string Pinky on the 9th fret of the D 4th string Strum all six strings from from the low E string. Playing in the 2nd position can be difficult because of the strength and stamina required to fret everything so close to the nut.
This position ranks up there with the F Major chord in terms of difficulty, especially on an acoustic guitar. So, if you're having trouble playing this version you're in luck because there are some alternate ways that don't require as much effort. The first alternate thing you can do is to take your index finger off the 5th string and place it on the 1st string, so the chord now looks like this : Index finger on the 2nd fret of the E 1st string Middle finger on the 4th fret of the D 4th string Ring finger on the 4th fret of the G 3rd string Pinky on the 4th fret of the B 2nd string This version still sounds full enough even though you are not playing the B note in the bass.
But if this is still too difficult, we can simplify it even further and give your poor wrists and fingers a break. Here's another version that adds a little extra flavor and sounds great on an acoustic guitar: Index finger on the 2nd fret of the A 5th string Ring finger on the 4th fret of the D 4th string Pinky on the 4th fret of the G 3rd string Strum five strings down from the A string.
This is actually a Bsus4 chord. The 2nd and 1st strings ring out, adding some extra color. It's easier to finger than the previous version and sounds a little more open. Throw it in to add variety and spice to your playing when you get tired of playing the standard B versions.
